AEW just changed everything.

🎤THE MAIN EVENT

AEW — Dynasty⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

AEW just reminded the world what homegrown looks like.

One story. One moment. That's all we need this issue.

Darby Allin is the AEW World Heavyweight Champion.

Let that land for a second. Not a part-timer. Not a name borrowed from another promotion. Not a corporate decision handed down from a boardroom. Darby Allin — one of the most authentic, most relentless, most uniquely AEW wrestlers to ever lace up a boot — is carrying the top title in All Elite Wrestling.

When the final bell rang the locker room emptied onto the stage. Chaos in the best possible way. The kind of genuine celebration that can't be scripted because it isn't. This is what happens when a roster actually believes in one of their own. It reminded us of Starrcade 97 — that same energy of a locker room fully behind a moment bigger than just a match.

And then Sting appeared.

For those of us who understand what mentorship actually means — Sting's presence said everything words couldn't. The Icon standing there with quiet approval wasn't a cameo. It wasn't a callback. It was a mentor telling his student that everything they went through together was worth it. The coffin matches. The broken bones. The years of grinding. All of it led here. As someone who values mentors — that moment was the real championship. The belt is the symbol. Sting's approval was the reward.

Darby Allin vs MJF — AEW Dynasty 2026

What this means for AEW going forward:

Darby as champion opens one of the most compelling feud possibilities in recent memory. The top heel now has to split his attention — and that kind of pressure is where the best storylines are born. Add Tommaso Ciampa who has publicly declared his eyes are on the big gold and you have the ingredients for a three-way feud that could carry AEW for the rest of the year. Throw in some interference from old rivals of all three men and you have must-watch television every single week. That's not hope. That's a recipe.

Hot take: Darby Allin as AEW Champion is the best thing that could have happened to this company right now. A homegrown star at the top changes the entire narrative. This is AEW at its best.

Paul Wight — known to most wrestling fans as The Big Show — is a dedicated supporter and ambassador for the Special Olympics. One of the most physically imposing figures in WWE history has spent years using his platform to champion athletes with intellectual disabilities on a global stage.

The biggest hands in wrestling history have spent years lifting up others. That's worth knowing.
